RECIPE 21: Spring onion-bean soup

Symptoms:

Beginning  symptoms of catching a cold, a little bit of fever,  feeling cold, headache, uneasiness, dry mouth, bitter taste in mouth.

Ingredients:

80g white parts of spring onion, chives or leeks

150 g preserved black beans

150g root of the kudzu vine

10g ephedra (ephedra sinica)

1,5 liters of water

How to prepare the soup:

Wash the spring onion, chives or leeks, cut it on short pieces, like sticks. Wrap up the beans in a cloth and tie it well so that they want come out while boiling. Wash the root of kudzu vine and cut it on small pieces. Put the onion, beans and kudzu root in the pot, add water and bring it to boil. Continue boiling on small fire until you are left with 500ml of water. Remove all the ingredients from the water (you can throw them away) so that you are only left with a soup. Separate the soup on two parts.

How to use it:

Prepare once a day, separate on two parts and drink hot twice a day. Continue doing so for 3 days.

What to pay attention to:

After drinking take care that you are dressed warmly because you will sweat. If you don’t sweat the first day, add ephedra to the soup the next day and drink it the same way.

When NOT to use the soup:

If you are having a cold or fever for few days already, don’t use this soup.
